Doctrinal legal analysis of the progressive use of force in Ecuador

This research is oriented to analyze the power of the police when making use of progressive force in a situation of risk to his physical integrity or third parties, in order to safeguard a protected good (life), basing this response on the case of the police officer Santiago Olmedo. The documentary descriptive method was applied with bibliographic design with information of scientific interest that allows an approach to the reality of the facts, to determine how the action of protecting a third party (minor) proceeded, with the use of force towards the offenders of the criminal type configured at that moment and its visible effects. It was determined that, since there was an excess in the application of force that caused the death, it resulted in a conviction of three years and four months for the crime of exceeding the limits of the service.
