Attentional processes in professional soccer referees

Currently, soccer referees have been strongly criticized for erroneous decisions committed during matches, which may be associated to attentional processes, for this reason, the research was conducted with the aim of finding percentile values of attention in professional soccer referees of the province of Azuay. Through a non-experimental methodology with a cross-sectional descriptive design. With a sample of 41 referees, 35 males and 6 females, between 19 and 38 years old. The D2 selective attention test was applied, whose results were: processing speed (60.71 ±25.37), precision (46.02 ±25.09) and concentration (30.73 ±25.16), being higher in the male gender and in the participants of older age and category. We conclude that low attentional levels may be associated with refereeing errors committed during the match, being necessary to carry out activities and training for the development of cognitive skills.
