Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare the maximum oxygen consumption due to playing position in youth soccer players, the focus group of this study was boys/ girls of between 15-18 years. Sixty soccer players were estimated. Their evaluation was performed with prior informed consent of the “20-meter Course Navette” test instrument with one-minute stages. The sample was developed of this section first, goalkeepers had been analyzed, defenders, midfielders and forwards. Its application was performed in their usual training places, resulting in significant differences in VO2max. between playing positions, goalkeepers presented an average VO2max. of 39.81 ml/kg/min ±4.38, followed by forwards who obtained an average VO2max. of 50.34 ml/kg/min ±6.33, then, defenders presented an average VO2max. of 49.45 ml/kg/min ±4.73 and midfielders obtained an average Vo2max of 51.60 ml/kg/min ±5.17. Consequently, midfielders have a higher maximum volume of oxygen and goalkeepers the lowest.
