Substantial elements in the definition of the crime of femicide in the Ecuadorian criminal legal system

The general objective of the research was to legally analyze substantial elements in the classification of the crime of femicide in the Ecuadorian criminal legal system. It was based on a quantitative, documentary-bibliographic approach to identify the different criteria and parameters that make the proposed topic viable, which implies that it is framed in Ecuadorian laws. The information was collected in a single moment, in a single time, collecting the data directly, supported by journalistic articles, thesis, norms and guaranteeing a wide vision of the studied phenomenon. It is concluded that the Attorney General's Office assumed the need to make visible the problem of the death of women because of their gender, and for this purpose developed a proposal for the creation of the crime of femicide, as a criminal offense incorporated into the new Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP), in order to establish a new normative guarantee to protect the right to life of women.
