Abstract

Objective: To analyze the risk factors that induce preeclampsia during pregnancy. Method: Descriptive documentary, 15 articles published in PubMed, Scopus were reviewed. Conclusion: Preeclampsia represents one of the main threats to maternal and perinatal health, being influenced by several risk factors, such as advanced maternal age, chronic hypertension and obesity. Early identification of these factors, together with adequate clinical management, is essential to prevent serious complications such as eclampsia and HELLP syndrome.
