Halitosis: multifactorial causes and their impact on oral health

Abstract

Objective: to analyze halitosis, multifactorial causes and its impact on oral health. Method: Descriptive documentary, 15 articles published in PubMed, Scopus were reviewed. Conclusion: Halitosis is a multifactorial condition that not only affects oral health, but also the quality of life of those who suffer from it, due to its social and psychological impact. Although there are several underlying causes, both local and systemic, proper diagnosis and personalized treatment are key to effectively address the problem.
