Abstract

Objective: To analyze the psychological effects of cannabinoid use in young adults in the Ecuadorian population. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: The increasing use of cannabis among young adults in Ecuador poses a significant public health challenge, given its potential impact on brain development and mental health. Specific social and cultural factors have facilitated this increase, underscoring the need for culturally relevant educational and preventive interventions. It is crucial that public policies aim to limit access to cannabis, improve risk perception and strengthen mental health services. A comprehensive, evidence-based approach, adapted to the Ecuadorian context, is essential to mitigate adverse effects and promote the well-being of this population.
