Abstract

Objective: To analyze natural and traditional medicine in the surgery clinics of the UAO at UNIANDES. Method: descriptive observational study. Results: in the period 2018 and 2019, several studies with natural and traditional medicine were performed on 180 patients who attended the UAO surgery clinics for exodontia. In the present analysis, the postoperative clinic was assessed based on four criteria: presence of pain, inflammation, scar wound and infection, of patients who underwent treatment with natural medicine versus patients to whom no complementary method was applied. Conclusion: According to the present analysis and comparison, phytopharmaceuticals provide a wide range of evidence of clinical success with their application. The effectiveness of natural and traditional medicine in oral cavity healing is endorsed, and tissue regeneration was evident thanks to the beneficial properties of plants and their active components.
