Abstract

Objective: To analyze current and future treatments for vital pulp therapy of permanent teeth. Method: Bibliographic search in PubMed and Scielo databases. Results: 18 articles were selected for analysis. Conclusion: MTA cement tends to have a higher success rate, together with a lower inflammatory response and a hard and predictable dentin formation than calcium hydroxide cements. On the other hand, no major differences were found in these indicators when comparing MTA cement with Biodentine® tricalcium silicate cements. The dental adhesive systems showed the lowest success rates.
