Abstract

This study investigates the adoption of blockchain in FMCG accounting, combining qualitative and quantitative approaches. With the participation of accountants in the province of Azuay, the level of knowledge about blockchain and their perception of its integration in the sector were evaluated. The results revealed a low general knowledge, but a positive perception towards its implementation, highlighting the need for training. The security of accounting information was considered relevant, while challenges included implementation costs and resistance to change. Despite this, the potential benefits of improving efficiency and transparency in accounting management were recognized. Government intervention was suggested to facilitate blockchain adoption. In conclusion, the study highlights the importance of education, data security and overcoming barriers to fully exploit the potential of blockchain in accounting
