Alternative measures to imprisonment for drunk driving. Ecuadorian procedural system

The general objective of the research was to carry out a legal analysis of alternatives to imprisonment for driving under the influence of alcohol. Ecuadorian procedural system. This research used the quantitative method, which produces descriptive data, originating from data collection. Supported by a documentary-bibliographic review. The inductive-deductive method was also applied. The analytical-synthetic method was also used. It is concluded that the defendant's technical defence has requested alternative measures as an alternative to imprisonment in order for the defendant to serve his sentence for the benefit of society as established in Article 63 of the COIP, since it is mentioned that community service is applicable in compliance with a sentence of up to 6 months' imprisonment, which means that the law is not clear.
