The general objective of the research was to legally analyse expert evidence in environmental crimes and its impact on court rulings. This research used the quantitative method, which produces descriptive data that originate from data collection, supported by a documentary-bibliographic review. The inductive-deductive method was applied in conjunction with the documentary-bibliographic review. The analytical-synthetic method was also used. It is concluded that there is a lack of experts specialised in environmental matters within the judicial system of the Judiciary Council in the different branches of environmental law, thus making the work of the holder of the criminal action, such as the public prosecutor's office, difficult in order to demonstrate the unlawful acts committed against nature.
