Extralimitation by Ecuadorian police officers in the application of the progressive use of force

The general objective of the research was to legally analyze the excesses of Ecuadorian police officers in the application of the progressive use of force. The method used in the research was based on the qualitative approach. The research technique applied was the interview; the tool or instrument that supported it was the interview guide. An analytical-reflexive process was generated. It is concluded that the legal, doctrinal and normative parameters of the progressive use of force is a necessary tool, but at the same time not sufficient for adequate police work. Constant training on this subject is a sine qua non requirement.
