Impact of violence in detention centers on ecuadorian society

Prison violence in our country is considered a social problem. In recent years it has been closely observed by international human rights organizations. The objective of this research is to show how the acts of violence and corruption that take place in prisons, besides being a great violation of human rights, affect society by creating an atmosphere of danger, far from social rehabilitation. Unfortunately, gangs have taken on a considerable level of prominence and it is in the cities of the coast where it can be seen that the levels of violence have increased. The descriptive method is used in the research using the technique of bibliographic and documentary analysis related to the topic. There is an urgent need for the government to create a new type of social rehabilitation for those deprived of liberty that complies with the pertinent constitutional and legal parameters.
