Bundle management and the nursing role in intensive care units: a systematic review

Objective: To analyze the management of care bundles and the role of the nursing professional in intensive care units, in order to identify their impact on the quality of care. Method: A systematic review with a qualitative approach and descriptive-analytical nature was developed. The search was carried out in the PubMed, SciELO, Dialnet, Redalyc, and ScienceDirect databases, and 15 studies were selected for analysis. Results: The implementation of bundles, especially the ABCDEF (ICU – Intensive Care Unit Liberation Bundle), is associated with a decrease in infections, improving the quality of care. The nursing professional plays a key role in the application, monitoring, and adherence to these measures. Conclusions: Care bundles constitute an effective strategy to optimize care in critically ill patients; it is recommended to strengthen continuous training and promote the standardization of evidence-based practices.
