Role of nursing staff in robotic surgery

Objective: To describe the role of nursing staff in robotic surgery. Method: A descriptive literature review was conducted between January and June 2023, searching LILACS, PubMed, Wiley Online Library, ProQuest, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar; 50 documents were identified and 22 were selected for analysis, applying inclusion criteria (full text, 2018–2023, and thematic relevance). Results: The findings showed that nursing assumed key roles in patient preparation, operating room organization, robotic system implementation, sterility maintenance, specific instrument management, and perioperative safety. Conclusion: It was concluded that the role of nursing was decisive for the effectiveness and safety of robotic procedures.
