Abstract

Objective: To analyze the immediate complications in the placement of infrazygomatic microimplants to improve clinical protocols and reduce adverse events. Methods: A literature review was performed in databases between March 2013 and March 2023, using specific terms and Boolean operators to evaluate the frequency and severity of complications. Results: The success of infrazygomatic microimplants varies according to the insertion technique and anatomical characteristics of the patient. Complications include fractures, displacements, and injuries to anatomic structures. Conclusions: Detailed anatomic evaluation and adaptation of evidence-based protocols is essential to minimize risks. Further research is recommended to develop customized practices and improve the success rate of microimplant placement.
