Abstract

Objective: To analyze the prevalence of metabolic diseases in the community of Zuleta. Methods: Descriptive observational study. Results: The population manifested that they suffer from arterial hypertension with 41%, followed by diabetes mellitus with 21%, 17% suffer from obesity, 9% hypercholesterolemia, 7% hypertriglyceridemia, followed by 3% hypothyroidism, and finally, 2% hyperthyroidism. Conclusion: The results obtained in the Zuleta community show a high prevalence of metabolic diseases, especially arterial hypertension and diabetes, affecting men and older adults to a greater extent. Deficiencies in dietary habits, low frequency of physical activity and limited regular medical control are key factors contributing to this problem; genetic predisposition and family history of hypertension increase the risk of future complications.
