Abstract

Objective: to analyze the impact of foot and mouth disease in Ecuador. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: Foot and mouth disease (FMD) in Ecuador remains a significant animal health challenge, affecting not only the livestock economy but also public health and biodiversity. Despite advances in vaccination and the implementation of control measures, livestock mobility and the emergence of new strains of the virus continue to be critical factors complicating the total eradication of the disease.
