Abstract

Objective: to study dermatophytosis as a zoonotic threat in dogs and cats. Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: Dermatophytosis in dogs and cats presents as a multifaceted disease with important zoonotic implications, demanding a comprehensive approach to its management and prevention. The significant prevalence of Microsporum canis, the ability of the fungus to form resistant biofilms, and the presence of asymptomatic carriers underline the need for more rigorous and coordinated control strategies between veterinary medicine and public health.
