Abstract

Objective: To identify the importance of correct blood pressure measurement in pregnant women older than 22 weeks of gestation. Method: Descriptive documentary study. Conclusion: Correct blood pressure measurement in pregnant women after 22 weeks of gestation is of vital importance for the early identification and adequate management of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, such as preeclampsia. This procedure, which may seem routine, has a direct impact on reducing maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality. Accuracy in measurement, the use of standardized techniques and the recognition of additional risk factors are essential to ensure effective monitoring. Implementation of these practices not only improves clinical outcomes, but also contributes to informed decision making that protects maternal health and proper fetal development.
