Abstract

Objective: to analyze the influence of diet on oral health in schoolchildren aged 3 to 5 years. Method: A systematic review of 15 scientific articles was carried out using scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science. Conclusion: Diet plays a fundamental role in the oral health of schoolchildren aged 3 to 5 years, with a direct influence on the prevention of caries and the maintenance of a healthy balance in the oral microbiota. The inclusion of probiotics in the diet has been shown to be a promising strategy to reduce the incidence of caries by inhibiting the growth of cariogenic bacteria and promoting a healthier oral environment. Likewise, other dietary components such as green tea have shown additional benefits in protecting against periodontal diseases.
