Abstract

Objective: To analyze the risk factors associated with respiratory distress syndrome in neonates hospitalized in the intensive care unit. Results and Method: Descriptive documentary. Conclusion: In the last two years the risk of suffering from COVID-19 associated disease of women in gestational state poses high risk of complications due to the fact that the immune system during pregnancy changes this generates a challenge and serious risk for public health; The respiratory effort is decisive for the transition from uterine to extrauterine life, which guarantees functionality since the baby has developed in a liquid environment. Both preterm and term newborns may experience respiratory disorders of varying severity, but in preterm newborns this is exclusively due to their premature lung development.
