Abstract

Objective: to analyze the importance of hand hygiene in intensive care nurses. Method: Descriptive documentary. Result and Conclusion: Measures to prevent the transmission of hospital microorganisms are highlighted, which can be grouped into four main areas: standard precautions, specific precautions, environmental cleaning and disinfection measures, and surveillance activities. Likewise, proposals to improve the motivation and behavior of health personnel in reference to good hand hygiene practice are shown.
