Pain management of the newborn in the neonatal intensive care unit

Objective: to determine the management of pain in the newborn by nurses in neonatal intensive care units. Method: Descriptive documentary study. Results and Conclusion: Newborns admitted to intensive care units are subjected to numerous painful procedures necessary for their survival, where pain must be managed in a safe and effective manner and the nursing staff acquires an important role in the use of interventions and must be able to identify the physiological and behavioral responses of the neonate to a painful stimulus and is a complex and important challenge for the entire team working in the care of the neonate.
