Objective: to analyze the nurse's knowledge of the secretion aspiration technique in tracheostomized patients. Method: Descriptive documentary study. Results and Conclusion: Currently, there are more frequent complications related to the aspiration of secretions in tracheostomized patients caused by the endotracheal tube, which is the cause of in-hospital infections. Taking into account that in-hospital infections are an affectation in ICU on an international scale, because they are linked to mortality and morbidity rates that cause an increase in the hospital value for patients. Thus, endotracheal suctioning is a procedure aimed at controlling airways and pulmonary secretions that have accumulated in patients who have been tracheostomized.
