Evaluation of the level of occupational stress in surgical area personnel

Abstract

Objective: to analyze the level of work stress and the intervention of sociodemographic variables such as: gender, age, marital status, academic education, length of service and position. Method: Descriptive observational study. Results: It was observed that 44.4% of auxiliary nursing personnel presented an intermediate level of stress, 35.7% of nurses presented a confirmed level of stress, and half of general practitioners presented a confirmed level of stress, in relation to specialist physicians who presented a low level of stress in more than half of them, represented by 55%. Conclusion: The staff of the surgical area of the General Teaching Hospital of Riobamba has a confirmed stress level according to the scale of the instrument used, being the nursing staff and general practitioners the most affected with 50% and 35.7% respectively.
