Objective: to determine how emotional exhaustion syndrome influenced the performance evaluation of public servants of the Provincial Directorate of the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IEES) Tungurahua during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Descriptive observational. Results and Conclusions: Emotional exhaustion syndrome influenced the work performance of administrative servers of the IESS Tungurahua. Although only one statistically significant dimension (emotional exhaustion) could be verified, it can be asserted that feelings of tension and fatigue decrease the effectiveness of administrative workers in fulfilling their tasks. In the same vein, people who are affected by this state of physical and psychological overload are up to 3.5 times more likely to have a low performance in their evaluation as public servants.
