Abstract

Objective: to determine the prevalence of biological accidents with sharps among health personnel of the General Hospital Macas - Ecuador. Methods: Descriptive observational study. Results and Conclusions: The most frequent occupational accident was punctures (69%), during blood sampling and minor surgical procedures. It was determined that operative health personnel have a high risk of suffering biohazard accidents at work, and this in turn is related to being female and working at night.
