Burnout syndrome in the medical staff of the neonatology department

Abstract

Objective: To determine the level of affectation in medical personnel with Burnout syndrome in the Neonatology area of the Hospital Regional Docente de Ambato - Ecuador. Method: Descriptive observational. Results: For the Depersonalization dimension, a score of 17.4 (high level) was obtained in 15 cases (10.0 % of the sample); 10.5 (medium level) in 45 cases and a value of 3.0 points (low level) in 90 cases, corresponding to 30.0 % and 60.0 %, respectively, of the total analyzed. Conclusions: It was possible to determine in the physicians of the Neonatology Area of the Hospital Docente de Ambato, that the main risk factors are perceived as the social interaction of aspects such as long working hours; being this the interaction where the greatest problem is reflected by the physicians analyzed, since it increases the probability of occurrence 3.9 times more for work fatigue to occur.
