Prevalence of burnout syndrome and depression in university teachers

Objective: to analyze the prevalence of burnout syndrome and depression in university teachers. Method: Descriptive observational study. Results and Conclusion: It is evident that in relation to marital status, married teachers are those who suffer more from the syndrome, with an average prevalence in all factors, the male sex is more prone to suffer from the syndrome, teachers with more experience are those who suffer more from Burnout and older teachers (40 to 49 years) have a greater tendency to the syndrome, on the contrary, the female sex tends to present some type of depressive symptomatology. Teachers are satisfied with their performance in their work activities, there is a high coping with stress levels and they are prone to evaluate themselves positively in relation to their ability to perform their work, despite presenting high emotional and psychological burdens, which generates a protective factor.
