Management plan for the link unit in visual health of the student welfare department at the Technical University of Manabí. Ecuador

Abstract

The Visual Health Unit of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FCS) at the Universidad Técnica de Manabí (UTM) was created to offer services to the university community in the field of health and over the years have increased these services because patient care has increased; therefore, it was proposed to implement a health management system in the area of visual health using technology, strategic surveillance and the creation of research projects in partnership with the community link. Objective: To propose programs to achieve excellence in the visual health service of the Visual Health Unit of the Universidad Técnica de Manabí. Method: A reflexive analysis of the Unit was carried out. Results: Five essential components were found to deliver a quality service, which are: training for personnel working in the Unit through the hiring of experts, acquisition of state-of-the-art equipment, increasing the offer of the service, carrying out care and incentive protocols the staff to perform fourth level study. Conclusion: Through the 5 basic components, it is proposed to create the strategic plan through an institutional committee that works on the diagnosis of the health needs of the region and the annual institutional operating plan, from which management indicators will be achieved. such as: the number of the population served, the number of hours of consultation per specialist and the number of referrals to specialized centers.
