Leadership Styles of the Heads of Service of the University Hospital "Dr Alfredo Van Grieken"

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to determine the leadership style of the service heads of the University Hospital "Dr. Alfredo Van Grieken ". Chorus, Falcón State. The study is descriptive, the field design, not experimental. Five (5) heads of service were interviewed. The technique used was the survey; from a scale of measurement structured from the Kerlinger theory. Complemented with vision theory of leadership style based on situational analysis by Paul Hersey and Kenneth Blanchard. The leadership style, most frequently used by the heads of service, is the autocratic in 75% and laissez faire in 25%, being null, the democratic and transformative style with 0%. It is necessary to transcend the transformational style, this is the opportunity to manage the institution, a synergic work where motivation, innovation, creativity, human talent can contribute from its potential to the solution of problems, to foster a democratic, leading management culture, that benefits the effectiveness of the services rendered to the Venezuelan people.
