Objective: To analyze the efficacy of papain in the removal of deep caries. Method: Systematic review. Conclusion: Comparing the chemomechanical technique using papain gel with the ART techniques, a greater reduction of Streptococcus Mutans was found when using papain enzyme. In addition, the results showed that patients reduced their level of anxiety generated by the other ART techniques. Finally, we can conclude that the ART techniques using papain gel are really effective for caries removal and gives the patient a more positive and less painful experience despite its duration.
