Impact of virtual education on academic performance in medical students

Objective: To characterize the effects that the virtual modality of education has generated in the academic performance of the students of the Medicine career of the UNIANDES University, Ambato headquarters in the period 2020-2021. Method: Descriptive type research and the sample 72 students second semester of Medicine at UNIANDES University. Results and conclusions: The virtual university educational modality presents a great shortcoming in what refers to the academic performance of the students, due in part to the complexity at the moment of understanding the lectures given by the teachers, in addition to the incidence of visual distractors, and on the other hand due to the lack of study habits where students do not dedicate enough time to their autonomous study, despite the fact that they have more accessible periods and days.
