Abstract

Objective: To characterize the information that Nursing students have at Uniandes about the causes and effects of the indiscriminate use of antibiotics in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and its repercussions on public health. Method: The bibliographic material related to the research topic was analyzed, in addition the data collection methods such as the survey and the questionnaire as an instrument were applied, the method was analytical-synthetic. Results and conclusions: The causes and effects of the misuse and abuse of antibiotics were described, mainly antimicrobial resistance and the resistance mechanisms of the bacteria focused on containing and controlling drug resistance; and it was verified that the majority of the surveyed students of the Nursing Career at Uniandes know the causes and effects that are produced by the incorrect use of antibiotics.
