Bibliographic research on the use of probiotics in periodontal diseases

Objective: To analyze the main scientific results on the applications of probiotics in patients with periodontal diseases, which would benefit to restore their oral health. Method: Descriptive documentary in a population of 15 articles related to the proposed objective. Conclusion: It was possible to identify the main characteristics of probiotics, highlighting their resistance to gastric pH, their adhesion to virulent foreign organisms, their antibacterial and anti-infectious activity; pointing out that probiotics are found mainly in dairy products, gelatins, processed foods, among others.
