Incidence and prevalence of cancer among hospitalized patients

Objective: To analyze the incidence and prevalence of cancer in patients hospitalized at the Ambato general hospital - IESS, during 2017 in order to improve the statistical record in the AS-400 system through standardization of oncological diagnoses. Method: Review of clinical history. Conclusion: The number of cases of benign and malignant neoplasms detected during 2017 in the Ambato general hospital of IESS, were initially 184, of these 114 are within the 10 prevalent types of benign and malignant neoplasms. The prevalent benign and malignant neoplasms are benign ovarian tumor, malignant prostate tumor, malignant brain tumor, malignant stomach tumor, benign breast tumor, hyperplasia of the thyroid gland, malignant thyroid gland tumor, malignant rectal tumor, malignant breast tumor and malignant cervical tumor.
