Incidence of pneumonia in patients over 60 years of age

Abstract

Objective: To diagnose the incidence of pneumonia in patients over 60 years of age admitted to the Internal Medicine area of Hospital General Puyo. Methods: Descriptive observational study. Results: The risk factors of pneumonia, indicating that 32% have presented smoking, 25% alcoholism, 18% diabetes, 11% immunological diseases, 7% are hypertensive and the remaining 7% present cardiovascular diseases. Conclusion: It was observed that the most prevalent risk factors that influence the development of pneumonia in people over 60 years of age and who have been treated in the Internal Medicine Area of the General Hospital Puyo were alcoholism and smoking, considering that this type of habits are not favorable for the health of the person.
