Abstract

Objective: To determine the incidence of risk factors for self-injury in patients attended at the Hospital General Docente Ambato. Methods: Descriptive observational study. The population was 96 patients surveyed from the Hospital General Docente Ambato, with self-harm attempts; corresponding to the period from September 2018 to August 2019. Results: 73% of the people are recidivists in self-harm attempts. Conclusion: The outstanding risk factors in Ambato General Hospital are the psychological and economic factors that lead to relapse in self-harm attempts; because patients are not able to cope with difficult situations or in other cases, they see it as a quick measure to get out of the situation in which they find themselves.
