Abstract

Objective: To determine the degree of Burnout Syndrome affectation during the COVID-19 pandemic in emergency service workers of the IESS-Riobamba Hospital in 2020. Method: Descriptive observational. Results: the psychological dimension "emotional exhaustion" presents the highest average 78.4%, being very close to "Cynicism" with 71.1%. Conclusion: Emotional exhaustion was independently associated with nominal variables such as age, marital status, and profession. In addition to further exploring these associations, future research should investigate whether interventions designed to reduce burnout help health professionals change their work environment.
