Abstract

Objective: To identify dermatologic lesions caused by contact with chemical products in workers of the Siderurgica Tungurahua Company, in Ecuador. Methods: Descriptive observational study. Results: 73% of the population studied showed evidence of being exposed to chemical products for 6 years or more (N=22), without underestimating the worrying fact that the other 8 workers were exposed between 0 and 5 years. Conclusion: The most frequent pathologies were contact eczema, followed by allergic pathologies, presence of mycosis and macules, with burns being less frequent. The workers with the highest percentage of injuries were in the metal casting area, followed by the mechanical and welding area and the turning area. As for the place on the body where the highest percentage of injuries occurred, the hands stood out, followed by the forearms, face and neck.
