Abstract

Objective: To identify the level of risk associated with ionizing radiation received by occupationally exposed personnel in the Imaging area of the Hospital General Docente Ambato, in Ecuador.  Methods: Descriptive observational study. Results and Conclusion: The exposure time of the workers was different given the start and end dates of each one's work. Estimating the radiation levels that the POE could receive with a projection of 10 years of work, it was found that the total dose expected for this time of work is 17mSv on average, which indicated that they were far from suffering biological health effects. The projection considered situations under normal working conditions, however, in case of a radiological accident the exposure may increase considerably.
