Use of Biodentine in the repair protocol in the sealing of endodontic perforations

Objective: To analyze through the literature the knowledge and use of the protocol for sealing perforations with biodentine during endodontic treatments. Method: Bibliographic review of 15 articles in PubMed, Scielo and Redalyc databases. Conclusion: Biodentine has been shown to be biocompatible, since it does not induce damage to pulp cells, and it is also capable of stimulating the formation of reparative dentin. The formation of hard tissue has been reported as a consequence after pulp treatment with this cement. This material used as a veneer offers more benefits when compared to Ca(OH)2 based cement. It has hardness properties, low solubility and produces a strong seal. It overcomes the main disadvantages of Ca(OH)2 such as: lack of bonding to dentin and resin, solubility of the cement, and microleakage.
