Orthoradial technique for endodontic root canal localization

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of the parallel and orthoradial techniques in the visualization of root canals and the occurrence of image distortion in their application, in order to contribute to their knowledge and application in the dental area of Uniandes and thus benefit patient care and the adequate use of dental materials. Method: Observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study. Results: With the parallel technique, mesiolingual canals were visualized in 31.3% and the orthoradial technique facilitated the visualization of mesiolingual canals in 93.7% of patients and distolingual canals in 12.5% of people. Conclusion: The orthoradial technique is effective when locating root canals located palatally or lingually in upper first premolars and lower first molars, since root dissociation is achieved with this technique.
