Abstract

Objective: To identify and publicize foods with high cariogenic potential to reduce the caries index and guide healthy eating in the lunch boxes of preschool children from 3 to 5 years of age of both sexes from the "John Dalton" Institution and its influence on oral health. Method: A descriptive, explanatory-observational cross-sectional investigation was carried out, the sample consisted of 50 children who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results and conclusions: To evaluate the cariogenic potential of food, a collection sheet and a survey that evaluated dimensions were used, the Chi-square statistical test was used. 75% take into account only the satisfaction of the child and the economy. It is concluded that children's lunch boxes contain potentially cariogenic foods and that they would influence the appearance of caries due to the relationship of poor oral hygiene.
