The study aimed to analyze the relationship between the entomological capacity‑building plan and the risk control of Aedes aegypti in Quevedo, Ecuador, considered a representative case of regional challenges against dengue. A non‑experimental design with a quantitative and correlational approach was applied, using a sample of 132 health workers selected from a population of 200. Data were collected through a structured Likert‑scale questionnaire, validated by experts and a pilot test, which yielded a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.8. Statistical analysis with SPSS included descriptive measures, Spearman correlation, and multiple regression. Results indicated a predominance of low values across the evaluated dimensions, highlighting limitations in technical preparation and sanitary response capacity. It was concluded that strengthening entomological competencies is essential to improve surveillance and dengue prevention in Quevedo and, by extension, in other Latin American cities.
