Criminalization of femicide from a gender perspective and the preventive role of Ecuadorian criminal law

The general objective of the research was to legally analyze the typification of femicide with a gender perspective and the preventive function of Ecuadorian criminal law. This research used the quantitative method, based on a documentary-bibliographic review. In addition, the inductive-deductive method was applied. The analytical-synthetic method was also used. It can be concluded that the legal-doctrinal analysis carried out in this research work that addressed the typification of femicide as a result of a criminal policy with a gender perspective and its effect on the preventive function of criminal law, has shown the obligation of the State to provide solutions and address the problem with a cultural formation of respect for the rights of persons and mainly those of women.
