Interpretación del perfil de infecciones asociadas al catéter urinario permanente en pacientes de cuidados intensivos

Las infecciones asociadas a la atención de la salud son una de las principales causas de enfermedad y muerte en pacientes hospitalizados en todo el mundo. Objetivo: Interpretar el perfil de infecciones asociadas al catéter urinario permanente en pacientes de la unidad de cuidados intensivos. Método: Revisión narrativa con búsqueda en bases indexadas, selección por criterios de inclusión (últimos 10 años; inglés, español, portugués) y evaluación independiente por autores. Resultados: Se identificaron como patógenos más frecuentes Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii, Enterococcus y Candida spp.; la prevalencia de uso de catéter en UCI alcanzó 76% en estudios multicéntricos. Conclusiones: Las ITU asociadas a catéter en UCI presentan etiología diversa; la reducción requiere vigilancia, uso apropiado de catéteres y colaboración clínica‑enfermería para implementar medidas preventivas
