Abstract

Objective: To identify adverse reactions to taxanes in adult patients with breast cancer undergoing antineoplastic treatment. Method: Qualitative, descriptive, and applied research based on a literature review of articles indexed in recognized databases, published in recent years, analyzed using a hermeneutic approach. Results: Side effects such as depression, alopecia, peripheral neuropathy, cognitive impairment, cardiotoxicity, and ophthalmological and urological disorders were reported. These adverse events, although some are temporary, have a significant impact on quality of life and can compromise the physical and emotional functioning of patients. Conclusions: Taxanes are effective in reducing breast cancer mortality, but they generate significant adverse reactions; their identification and timely management by healthcare personnel is essential to minimize risks and improve comprehensive care.
